Composition

For my final outcome I am hoping to combined all my skills and knowledge I have collected from this project together. The final outcome will be digital manipulation similar to all my other production work as the right area for me to go in is digital manipulation as previous attempts at physical design have been good but not as powerful as my digital art. The idea from photoshoot three "A losing battle within" with the use of dispersion effects along with the same model in two different positions and clothing to represent a different part of them and photoshoot 7 "All I do is tear myself apart" the idea of portraying schizophrenia  all of these ideas and devices from previous photoshoots which i like as i believe them to be the best parts to portray when combined for my final piece.

My original idea for my final piece was to create a physical third dimensional display that takes all 7 of my photo-shoots together and places them within a silhouette of myself surrounded by the original version. I made a digital version to visualise what id like it to look like however with multiple attempts at trying i released it was not the best idea as it didn't visually  look appealing or work as it was to messy and clustered. So i changed my idea and continued to think.

I still liked the idea of Silhouette and the idea of it being all in your head. So i experimented with placing all my photographs from each photoshoot into the silhouette however i realised i couldnt do much as a final piece with this as it has really came from no artist research or previous development and i thought i best stick with what im good at and continue to advance the photoshoots in the style i have created them in.

The first experiment i created was based from my 7th photoshoot using the three heads and three emotions however i wanted to play with the composition and use previous photographs from other photoshoots or experiments to change the outfit and add further meaning and narrative for the characters and "emotions" i liked how this looked as i used the dispersion effect of pixels on the two contrasting emotions while smoke on the embodiment of the subject. I didnt think the smoke looks overall successful so i had them all pixels while adding a dark but warm gradient.

To experiment further again using previously taken photographs from other photoshoots. This ended up following the same formula as the first experiment and i wasnt overall happy with how it looked, i knew i wanted it to look colder so i added a blue gradient on to help with the temperature of the photograph which did improve it but i felt the subjects were to close to each other.

This final experiment helped me visualise what i wanted for my final piece. To refine my second experiment i used the same characters ( photographs ) moved them apart and used the previously used disperstion style where i distort and liquefy a copy before i fade them into each other. For this piece i faded each of the three subjects together showing the centre on in distress breaking off into anger and sorrow. I loved how it looked however i wanted three emotions while the white and pink shirt are both sorrow.  The green gradient was my first attempt at trying to use a gradient to make it cold. The brown gradient was used in the style of the first experiment to darken the image but brighten the subjects. However removing gradient effects and working on saturation levels as well as colour levels, contrast and brightness i created the last one (bottom Left) which is my favourite and helped me figure out what i wanted to create.

For my final piece i will take photographs of me in three different outfits:
1: Suit - represents happiness, joy, love, stability and the goodness in life (Denotations of Life)
2:grey cardigan White T-shirt - Represents purity, innocence, sadness (Denotation of Anxiety)
3: black  T-shirt/ Red shirt - represents anger, hatred, evil, sin (Denotation of Depression)

These will all represent three different emotions symbolising the most popular or widely used emotions of Sadness, Anger and Joy. I want to show the conflict within my project so i will show two opposing battled between happiness and anger and have sadness within the middle of it. One conflict will have the anger hurting the happiness, this will show the power and strength of anger while at the other side we see the happiness comfort the anger, this will show kindness and hospitality.  This allows us to visually see the mental effects this disorder has sowing conflict between personalities and characteristics.

I will attempt to use visual elements within my work. Colour is a visual element that Is needed greatly to show the different subjects apart from one another. For example the third subject will be wearing the red shirt which represents anger and rage and evil. This will have a black shirt underneath which has connotations of death, darkness and sin. The second subject in a white shirt represents innocence purity while the grey cardigan will be used to contrast the white but separate him from blending into the background. The cardigan however is more a female clothing choice and so this helps the male subject display his feminine qualities and emotional side showing that his mind wont be the strong masculine male that men are stereotyped to be. The first subject in the suit. The suit is blue which has connotations of loyalty, wisdom and confidence and the dark blue qualities of the suit have connotations stability. Each outfit and costume has been carefully planned and designed to help tell the story of the photograph.

Using the photographs from my photoshoot used for the final piece I have experimented creating a similar photograph to that of the third experiment I did when planning the composition for my final piece. Here the quality of the images are superb and the costumes definitely tell them apart and give each subject their own narrative. However the dispersion effect needs to improve for my final piece as this one is quite messy as there is a large gap between the subjects with a more central clustered dispersion effect.
