Photo-shoot Title:
"How Far Ive Fallen"
Photo-Shoot Concept & Aim:
This photograph is going to be done in the style of Federico Bebber. The aim of this photograph is to create a well developed and good quality image using the dispersion effect on Photoshop.
The concept of this image is to represent someone mentally losing themselves it portrays a subjects identity deteriorating and dissipating.
Date & Timing:
This photo-shoot will take place on the 30th march 2017 at 1pm. This will be taken at this time and day because It is an appropriate time for the light to perfectly shine onto the subject from both brighten up the image to make it more clear.
Location:
This photograph will take place in East Herrington in Sunderland this is because it is a quite and accessible location for me to get to that has the facility of a plain white wall allowing me to have a plain simple background to make the subject stand out.
Props:
I will need to have glasses on with my hair gelled and styled up and in a quiff. My outfit choice will be a Suit and tie. As the photoshoot will be from the stomach and up I wont need any smart trousers. However I will need a white shirt a blue suit jt and a black tie. This is influenced from the Edward Honaker.
Models:
I myself will be in the shot. This will be a self portrait photograph influenced from styles of Laura Hospes. I have chosen myself as a model as it captures the audience i want to attract of males showing their stuggle with mental health.
Team:
I will be my own team. I will be the model for the photograph as well as the editor. The camera will be on a stand with a timer set to take the photograph.
Equipment and Preparation:
The camera I have used for this photoshoot is a Fujifilm Finepix S9600 Camera with a Integrated 28-300mm lens. The batteries were fully charged before shoot.
Desired Shots:
The shot I am hoping for is a medium close up shot in good quality of the model screaming. The still calm posture of the figure should contrast the facial construct. This shot should then hopefully during the editing process stretch away and disperse off. I would like to add a smashed effect on one of the glasses while the character in an almost pixel manner blow away.

Creating Screenshots
Refinement One
After successfully recreating the drawing I did as part of my intentions for the idea of this photoshoot. This Dispersion effect has worked very well. A definite improvement from the previous experiment with the square cubes as this creates a more destructive look. This dispersion effect has more of an impact than the smoke or other effects would of. I am proud with the lighting and the quality of this image creating a powerful and striking effect. Listening to peer commentary I have improved the effect by making it span out and fill the frame that its been blown to.
A Step by step slideshow on the process to create this photograph.
This refinement has added a gradient map over the photograph while adding a soften smooth tool over the top to help the dispersion effect to blend in much smoother with the subject as well as let the subject contrast the background making him pop out more.
Camera Controls:
ISO: ISO-200
Shutter Speed: 1/500seconds
F-Stop: f/5.6
Source light added from left and right of subject to brighten up the photograph.
.
Refinement Two

This refinement has added a gradient map effect of black and white while putting the contrast levels on a high this allows the subject to stand out as well as shades of different parts of the dispersion effect. This was a simple refinement to do and next I will do this same technique with a new refinement photoshoot as I like how strong the subject stands out and for my next photoshoot I will try and keep this technique prominent throughout the refinements. However I will experiment around with the black and white filters to make the photographs more gritty and dark.
The Narrative of this photograph is to represent the biological decay that happens to a person with a mental disorder. Here the suit which is inspired by Edward Honaker is used to represent success and masculinity. This is so that i convey to the audience that males suffer from mental disorders as well as people who look successful. The glasses are used to help add the cracked effect to show when someone suffers from a mental disorder their vision is broken and their perception of reality is often wrong and pessimistic. The dispersion effect Inspired by Federico Bebber is used to visually portray the decay of the mind. The persons identity breaks off into little pieces and he loses himself as time goes on. The facial expression of the model was used to show anger and pain. Yelling for someone to answer, yelling for someone to help. But never asking just yelling inside ones head.
Natural Light was used in this photograph with the natural light of the sun shining from the left and right of the subject through windows to help brighten the side of his face while casting a shadow over the front of the subjects face. Artificial light was used behind the camera to slightly brighten the models face so it is easily understood the mood and emotions of the face.
Composition was used within this photograph as i have used a horizontal vantage point for this photograph this was done so the eyes are level using direct mode of address to look directly at the viewer. Framing was done by centring the subject in the middle to surround him with nothing but white. Cropping was done to focus the subjects top half from shoulders up wards cutting out the rest of the body. Rules of third was used as the eyes are on the top horizontal line while the end of the subjects arms have the two vertical lines. Rules of odds and evens have been used as there is on add number of subjects which shows the subject as alone and isolated. Rules of triangles can be seen with the edge of the collars on the shirt. It isn't very clear but on alot of the dispersion effect has little triangles all through out them. Rules of space has been applied by giving the model a lot of space around him making him appear smaller than his surrounding. Repetition and pattern are made thought the dispersion effect of the particles and pixels. Simplification has been heavily used through the photograph.
Thorough out this photo-shoot i have used a range of Visual Elements. Line was created curved lines with the hair and clothing. Form was shown with the layers of clothing that pop out and over lay one another or that old each other together. Shape can be seen with the edges of the photographs with the edges on the dispersion effect. The edges on the collar and the hair also create shape with glasses creating shape and form. Tone was used again. On this photograph the Tone use used with two colours of black and white, the black is heavily saturated so that its dark and contrasts the white enormously. However in the first and second Refinement tone is used to to highlight the subjects facial features while darkening his clothing and the dispersion effect. Colour is used with black and white inspired by Edward Honaker to represent depression and the cognitive approach to depression as its either all black and white just like the colour in the photograph. Space has been used to add space all around the subject to make him isolated. Texture is visible via the hair which is ruffled and a mess further conveying mental illness visually. Pattern is seen with the dispersion effect as it has a regular pattern.
Finally the Camera Controls used in this photograph has a shutter speed of 1/500seconds while its Aperture & Depth of field has its F-Stop set to f/5.6 while the ISO is set to ISO-200.

Evaluation:
I wanted to create the ideas of Mental Health. capturing concept of identity loss, a personality disorder by visually distorting my image with digital manipulation using dispersion effects and other techniques to constructing emotion and feeling in my photograph with a story behind my photograph.
I believed that i have achieved this with connotations of what's shown on the screen enforced by the visual elements I have shown. The meaning of the effect shows the person is breaking apart and broken this is shown by its broken pieces coming off from the subject. The crack in the glasses represent how the subs view and vision on world is shattered wrong this shows the irrational thinking. This connotations of the glasses shifts from its usual interpretation as glasses are seen as a sign of intelligence. The suit also portrays wealth and stability while deeply the person is mentally losing themselves. This shows that even the most successful people can be broken. have successfully created the dispersion effect going from left to read this Is because we read from left to right and helps people read the image.
I could improve my work with a change of outfit. As my aim is to show mental health affecting people of all demographics and psychographics however the suit could confuse some of the ideas behind the photo therefor I will improve my photographs by changing the outfit to more ripped and dirty clothing to visually tell that the subjects world is dirt. I have used a lot of plain backgrounds for my photographs and I believe to really make a striking image I should use a background of the outside or to change the mise-en-scene. This could be done with the help of influenced work from Edward Honaker or Laura Hospes of using black and white effects and edit the saturation and contrast levels to blow the image out and make it more striking.
