Experimentations

This is my first attempt of creating photographs in the style of Federico Bebber. I have used Photoshop elements 8 to create this photograph with a range of new brushes I downloaded to help create this effect. I also watched the tutorial by YouTube user 'Photoshop Tutorials' in the video " Photoshop CC - Dispersion Effect [ Smoke ] [ CS7 ] " As a first attempt I believe this is a very successful draft We can see the suit is dispersing away from the subject. However the white of the shirt has blended with the background. In future I should either wear a different shirt or have a different colour background. I believe for this photograph a grey background would be more appropriate for my piece.

This attempt of working in the style of Federico Bebber tries a similar style of dispersion. I have added make up effects to add a cut to the side of my head and a black eye. This has been an improvement from the last experiment as the dispersion of the face can clearly be seen however the blend from the fixed face to the clouded smoke can be improved. I believe for further improvements I can change the background from plain white to a light grey area this will then allow the smoke and the subject to stand out more. I have added more brushes to my photo-shop to try and experiment with different smoke patterns. This photograph portrays the story of decaying. The subjects mind is clouded as his own sanity is .

After researching this style and downloading and installing more brushes for the smoke affect onto my Photoshop program i used the subject Alicia Graham to attempt a more professional looking photograph. Firstly I added a background effect as I didnt like the simplistic white of the previous attempts. I believe this grey gradient is such an improvement on the work. I proceeded to edit the rest of the effect on. After I tried to attempt two different gradient effects of orange and blue with an added tweek to the contrast and brightness of the photograph or green and yellow. I believe this is a drastic improvement from my first tests of them however the blending of the smoke could improve.
This second attempt at the new style of smoke dispersion has now been done along side a new photoshoot of photographs including subjects Tiegan M, Jay C, Henry M. This edit has successfully blended the white smoke with the dispersion effect. However I feel the photograph is to long and just looks like the image is stretched and so I could improve the pattern of the smoke brush. I also believe I could blend the subject more so it looks like she is blowing away.

To refine my previous work on the model I have this better photograph of her to edit with. Here I successfully changed the style of the smoke to a more fluent and realistic flow of them. I have also successfully made it look like it hasn't just been smudged to a side and made it look mixed. The orange and blue gradient then really helps contrast the subjects skin and hair compared to the previous grey background.
Here I have changed the previously seen photograph to a black and white this filter helps create a superior effect for the smoke. However you can not see or notice that the smoke is actually the subject her self and instead is just either black white or grey smoke.
Preferring the first coloured version I wanted to refine it more and attempt to blend the subjects face more into the cloud. The top left photograph is the original photograph taken. The top right is the original photograph with little to no smoke effect over the subjects face. The Bottom left has a little bit of smoke applied to the subjects face and I am proud of the outcome as it looks like the subjects face is blurred through the smoke next to her it appears that her eyes are closed and her mouth is open
this then doesnt take away from the dispersion smoke or cover her face to much and allows it to blend off. The bottom right has a lot more smoke over the subjects face and I believe it was to much smoke suffocating the subject in it and making it look less dispersion.

This photograph continues the style of the smoke dispersion effect but blends both experiments together merging the smoke style of blurring along the side as well as allowing the smoke to seemingly flow and float off freely from the subject. For this experiment I have allowed the white smoke to also appear in the dispersion as well as successfully implement the right amount to the subject to help blend him from his physical body to his dispersion. Fading him out in enough smoke that crawls over him and engulf the edges of him.The effect added to the subject is a 'Screen' Filter with an altered brightness after finishing it I played around with the settings of the contrast to create this striking figure and quality of the subject against the background.
This photograph uses a 'Soft Green' effect to attempt to darken and "Evil" the subject. It has succeeded in turning the blue denam jacket to a dark black coat. The added touch of making the hair go from brown to red like hair dye on half the subject is something which I feel makes the photograph look more impressive. However the subjects face is pale white which I feel ruins aspects of the photograph and I would need more refinement to fix if possible but alternating the brightness and contrast levels didnt help.
