Chosen Idea.

I have gathered a range of different ideas and photographs that have given me inspiration for my theme in Beneath the Surface. My ideas can be reinforced by artists and photographs that I have researched. Each photograph I will take aims to tell a story through its narrative using all my photography skills I have developed and  create imaginative  and creative  photographs that are original and unique that will help with its use of colour, tone and composition to portray and represent Mental health issues as well as inner emotions that are beneath the surface of the skin.

Intentions

Initial Idea

This series of photograph looks at the idea of depression and suicidal thoughts a very common and well known mental disorder. This can influence my photograph as i could create series of photographs that tell a story and show the subjects feelings.

This photograph looks at the idea of schizophrenia this idea can help influence my photography work as I can study and try the techniques of multiple exposure to capture the reflection of the subject.

This photograph is a creative calming photograph. Its angle makes it look like a wall the girls backing onto. This captures the perfect description of "Beneath the surface" by been under the water. However it represents mental health issues as the calm sense the girls in shows she is at piece with her death. As well as showing she is drowning inside her mind

This photograph represents the idea of a subject drowning in there problems it implies that the troubles of life are getting to much and the waves of stress have crashed over her and she is reaching out for help. This could influence my work as using water to show beneath the surface while portraying real emotions and feelings inside in a powerful yet imaginative way. Visually what people will understand.

This photograph uses digital manipulation something that can support me as I will be using it for my own work to show the struggle of what is seen compared to what we feel inside. This is a great concept that will help influence my work to try and implement this style into my work.

This photograph uses simplification to create a striking photograph. This photograph shows that anyone even some important business man can feel suicidal. This concept that Mental illness can happen to anyone is a concept i must try and integrate into my photography work.

This photograph uses digital manipulation to .show how trapped someone can be in their own mind. The premises of keeping my photographs on the topic of beneath the surface must stay within all of my projects.

This photograph can influence my work as, said by Lee Jefffries, true emotion is found in the eyes. So a good technique to experiment with is photographs of the eyes like this one that can tell a story and display traits of pain and anxiety.

This photograph can help influence my work as it shows the mental disorder of a Split personality which is the main disorder I would like to focus on. This photograph has been created so simply that it opens it up for edit and me to see how complex I can make it to make it more emotional or if I could make it more simple while keeping the same message

This photograph can influence my work because of its use of digital manipulation. This is a skill I must learn and develop as it can help me visually represent struggle in someones life. In this still photograph you can see the time that has passed and all the different stages of emotions and feelings the subject is feeling. By only using character position and digital manipulation this artist has achieved this. This is something that can influence my work to achieve the same

This photograph portrays excellently the visual representation of a mental disorder. This shows perfectly the battle someone might have. Using the black and white filers with added contrast of the colours. The boy is faded slightly which helps tell the narrative and for my work narrative must be an essential part of my photographs.
