Photo-shoot Title:
"All I do is tear myself apart."

Photo-Shoot Concept & Aim:

This photograph takes inspiration from Edward Honaker with his work of mental illness. The aim is to portray how such mental disorders such as dissociative identity disorder or bipolar could be. This will really show the conflict that goes on within someones mind. This photoshoot will be taken in the style of Lee Jeffries focusing on the quality and detail in the subjects face.

Date & Timing:
This photo-shoot will take place on the 2017 at . This will be taken at this time and day because it is convenient for me.

Location:

This photograph will take place in East Herrington in Sunderland this is because it is a quite and accessible location for me to get to that has the facility of a plain white wall and a bed.

Props:

I wont need any props for my photoshoot as the white wall background is what I will need for my model to stand in front of  while pulling separate expressions.

Models:
I myself will be in the shot. This will be a self portrait photograph influenced from styles of Laura Hospes. I have chosen myself as a model as it captures the audience i want to attract of males showing their stuggle with mental health.

Team:

I will be my own team as the camera will stand on a tripod to take the photographs of myself. I will be the model and the editor when the shot comes along.

Equipment  and Preparation:

The camera i have used for this photoshoot is a Fujifilm Finepix S9600 Camera with a Integrated 28-300mm lens. The batteries were fully charged before shoot. Depending on the experiments I may need a waterproof camera or a waterproof camera case.

Desired Shots:

The shot I am hoping for is where the subject uses direct mode of address to look directly at the viewer while fades against it looking in opposite directions pulling different emotional expressions.

Aperture: f/3.6

Shutter Speed: 1/500

ISO: ISO-200

Artificial Light was used for this photo-shoot reflecting from the front this will allow the subjects face to be clearly visible with detail  The Aperture used is f/3.6 with a shutter speed of 1/500. Finally the ISO is set to ISO-200.

Composition is used within this photograph by use of Simplification. Simplification has been used by isolating the subject from the environment and placing him and only him and his other selves in the frame this is done with the black gradient that surrounds him. Repetition and pattern have also been used with repetition of the subject used as its the same person printed over himself. Rules of space is used with the use of having the subject in the centre and surrounding him black empty space. Rules of triangles has not been used within this photograph. Rules of evens and odds is not applied as the meaning of having odd number of subjects isn't true as this photograph shows pain and distress instead of balance as the rule suggests as we have three subjects here from the same model but each face gives a different emotion making the audience feel the corresponding emotion. Rules of thirds again isn't used fully in this image as the subjects in the centre of the photograph instead of on one of the side axis. Framing  and cropping was used to first crop the original backdrop of the photograph out and framing the subject isolated in the centre with the overlaying images ontop. Vantage points where used showing a eye level shot. Using direct mode of address for the front figure but not for the other two..

Visual Elements were also integrated within the photo-shoot with elements such as texture which was used with the surface quality of the subjects skin and hair showing the ruffled hear and the texture of the skin with its flaws. Space was used as previously mentioned within composition as the subject is surrounded by an empty environment. Colour is used with the black background but also the red cheeks and the natural skin colour. Tone is used with the brightness and darkness of the subject. Form can be seen as the layers of the different images of the subject are placed on each other allowing the subject to appear far forward or far behind..Shape is used with the edges of the subjects nose and chin

The Narrative of this photograph represents schizophrenia. This photoshoot represents three different emotions Joy, Rage and Sorrow this is all present in one person it is shown that sorrow is the more dominant one showing that the person is constantly upset and that physically he is tried and upset and is battling inside against joy and rage who are two sides of the same coin.

I believe i have successfully achieved the aim of the photoshoot to show schizophrenia.  I am happy to use digital manipulation and with out dispersion effects but with more of an Edward Honaker style. I think its a nice chance and also how my first shoots were in the style of Edward Honaker and my last before my Final outcome will end in the style of Edward Honaker.
I however dont think it ended up really well because of the colour of the subjects i feel it isnt striking enough the blend between photograph and background doesnt match.
So to improve my photoshoot i will try and change the levels and contrasts of the colour while trying to fix the background to give a more depressing look to the photoshoot. Also i would like to make them blend together as my reference images show as mine just overlaps each other and i dont believe this to be as effective as the reference images.

Refinement Three

Refinement Four

Refinement Five

In the style of Edward Honaker i refined my photograph by giving it a black and white effect. However the edges are still rough

Experimenting to fit the style of Lee Jeffries i tweaked some settings and made a really demonic looking subject really showing pain and devastation within the piece

Trying to blend the images together to look like the reference images didnt go so well as it still hasnt got that same feel towards it.85

Refinement of the side shots i got which tell a story as they are pieced together as a chain and link together to show sorrow, pain, anger and rage.

Further Refinement to experiment in other ways to portray schizophrenia. Changing the contrast on separate parts which overlay on one another

Final refinement to implement all the photoshoot photographs together to make one big image
