Artist Research

Frank Miller  is an American comic book writer, novelist, inker, screenwriter, film director, and producer best known for his comic book stories and graphic novels such as Ronin, Daredevil: Born Again, The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, and 300. Miller is a master cartoonist, and it really shows in his choice of what details to include or to leave out.  I would say that Miller draws strong cartoons, then gives them strong textures, then blacks everything else out entirely.  He is not using a consistent light source, though sometimes he pretends that he does. Miller has a tremendous vocabulary of textures, and he uses them extensively in Sin City.

Frank Miller and his Sin City style can reinforce my ideas in later development with refinements been created in similar styles to him to create dramatic and eye catching photographs with dark connotations and deep emotional messages conveyed through the pieces
