Rule of Space
Allows the image to appear more dynamic whilst conveying specific meaning or messages.

Stephen Collins uses the rule of space in this photograph.as the duck is shown facing towards the empty space of water he has in the frame. The mood for this photograph is the emotion of steadiness because of the calmness of the water as the duck swims steady on the water.
Stephen Collins uses the rule of space in this photograph.as the birds shown facing right of the photograph towards where it is aiming to go and where it wants to be. This could also use the rule of thirds as both the bird and the stick both sit within the rules axis and avoid the centre of the image. Stephen Collins creates the emotion with the white bird as white connotates purity and safety opposed to black as white represents positive and optimistic quality's.
This photograph was taken in the abandoned Farringdon skate park. I set ISO to ISO-600 and I had its shutter speed to 1/2000 while its f stop was set to f/6.2. To create this photo I attempted to recreate Stephens photograph (seen above) but with people. for this I placed the model on the left side making him stare to the right corner of the empty space. This also shows use of visual elements for example the lines of the railing and the texture of the ramp the model is seated upon. This creates mood while using the composition of rule of odds and evens as one person in frame shows the sad emotions of isolation however using the rule of space shows the emotion of silence, thinking, been alone but not been lonely. Been alone allows for you to enjoy your life and think about the world.
This photograph was taken at Ryhope beach. I set ISO to ISO-600 and Ii had its shutter speed to 1/1200. While its f stop was set to f/7.4. To create this photograph I attempted to recreate Stephens photograph (seen above) but with people. for this i placed the model on the left side. This shows work of visual element with my use of texture from the rock the model is seated on as well as elements of form shown in with the structure of the rock. The mood of this photograph is created with the visual element of tone as the bright colours of the sky and sea contrast against the dark gritty colour of the land and the models coat. The emotion shown is reminiscing and contemplation, a dark lost soul stands on the edge of the earth and looks out to the peaceful sea to clear ones mind to stop and think about themselves.
